The Magician's Nephew is actually the first book, but is often overlooked because there was no movie.
I really liked these books when I was younger, and recently started reading them again and found I still like them, but not as much. The end of the last one is quite clever.

I really like all the books. When I was about 8 or 9 I used to be up all night reading, and these were some of the books I read again and I again. I've read all of them right through to The Last Battle, at the end of which I'm fairly sure I cried. I haven't read any in a while, but I think I'd probably still like them.

I'm not religious, but when these books were written, it was done so with religious anologies in mind. And what this seems to suggest, in that as the children grow up they forget Narnia and Aslan, and what with Aslan being 'Jesus' this doesn't make sense. Because of course religion is not forgotten (well occaisonally it is) as you grow up.

Other than that idea which irritates me a little, they are brilliantly creative and interesting books.
