Yeah, I've read it. Rather boring overall for the first read, but on the second + times through, it wasn't that bad.

I actually have the silmarillion book. It's new and haven't touched since I bought it. If only anyone of you were living near me, I'd prolly give it. I don't think I will read it ever. :S I dunno... Can't understand the story knowing that I haven't read the LOTR...

Actually, luv, this book is one you don't need to know any LOTR to understand. It's like the...pre-history.

But be forewarned, you might want to be careful if you do read it. It's very....hard to read. The way it's written and what it is...it's just one complicated book. But I still enjoyed it.

Yeah...it's English but the author seemed to use the old English language for that book. Makes it harder for me to understand. >.>

Yeah, it's all about tone. The book is supposed to be written in an ancient time, before LOTR ever happened. LONG before LOTR ever happened. So, the Old English actually helps the story.

That happened to me at first. As you read more of it, it gets easier and everything.

I found the Silmarillion very enjoyable, if a little heavy. The best part about it is how it helps you to enjoy the rest of Tolkien's work more.

That's the greatest magic of the Silmarillion, how it affects the rest of the series. It may be a hard read, but it's a good one.

I enjoyed it, but I HAD to read it twice to understand it fully.
