Elias leaned against the railing over the swiftly passing ocean water beneath. Ahead was Slateport city, the ferry he was on was close to port and with it his first steps in the Hoenn region. Kyne bristled with excitement as it came ever closer...

Shadow looked across the water at the ferry approaching. He had only been in Hoenn for a day. He knew this ferry was bringing some new people to Hoenn. He wanted to meet them.

"Shelgon....Dragonair....Gabite...." Shadow murmered, feeling the Pokeballs through his pack. "Family...it means everything." The sun burst through the clouds, a shining mass, lighting Shadow from behind. "It's time to begin the journey of a lifetime, guys. And we're going to start it off with a bang against the first trainer we meet. I wanna get you guys ready for the trials ahead."

A young man was leaning against the rails of the ferry. Shadow kept his eyes trained on him. He's gotta be a trainer...

Elias stepped off the ferry happy to be back on land equally happy to let his companions out of their pokeballs.

Mira was the first out, she exclaimed in the form of her name upon seeing Elias. Giddy with excitement she knocked him to the ground and nuzzled his neck affectionately. "Bay Bay!"

"Hey, hey, calm down." He laughed at her affections. "Its only been a day."

Ky soon followed out of his pokeball, Elias then decided it would be good to stop by the pokemon center for a check up.

"Hey you!"

Caught off guard Elias turned to see a man ahead of him, beside him was a Dagonair...

"Hey you!" Shadow called off. The man turned. "You're a trainer right?" The man nodded. "Well, what's your name and how many Pokemon you got with you? And, wanna duel? I got 3 Pokemon, you can set the terms and have first move." Shadow's Dragonair twisted around his legs, while his Shelgon and Gabite moved around to his sides, excited.

"I've only got these two with me." Elias said gesturing to his two pokemon. "But I accept, and you can have the first move."

"Alright, thanks then..." Shadow turned, his Pokemon following. Calling over his shoulder, he called, "This way. I know an open place we can battle at." Within minutes they reached a nice open, flat place of hard rock ground. There was a marked Pokemon area already there. Shadow set up on the far side of the area. "Since you only have those two Pokemon for now, we'll do a 2 Pokemon set. First one without the two Pokemon out loses. Agreed?" The man nodded. Shadow looked at Dragonair and Gabite. "I'll use Dragonair and Gabite. Which is your first?"

"Alright, a one-on-one sounds good." Elias said taking a place opposite his challenger. "I'll start with Mira."

"Alright..." Shadow grinned. "Let's hit it, Dragonair!"

Dragonair moved foreward.

"Dragonair, we'll start it off simple, alright? Don't get too cocky. Try a Wrap first!" Shadow called out.

His Dragonair moved with incredible speed but was still too slow to get a grip on Mira, she easily jumped into the air. "Use sunny day!" A glowing gold orb came to life in her mouth before she looked up and released it, the sunlight became noticibly stronger as a result.

"Careful, Dragonair. She's gonna be more powerful with that sun! Take care of it, if you would." Shadow called. Dragonair began to glow with a mysterious aura, and the day became instantly clouded, and started to rain slowly. "Get ready! Thunder wave, this time!"

"Light screen!" A scaled shield of yellow formed a sphere around Mira as the thunderwave approached. It didn't stop the attack but it would be useful later. The Bayleef winced at the electrical energy coursing through her body, before the Dragonair could do more; "Mira, now use solarbeam!"

Because of the increased sunlight se didn't even have to charge the attack as she reeased the concentrated beam form her mouth..

Mira started to use Solarbeam, but nothing happened.

"That, friend, is the problem with not dogging or blocking Thunder Wave by a Dragonair. Paralysis (For the record, 2 turns minimum, so after this attack you can try something, but now the sky is rain clouds) is guaranteed." Shadow commented. "Dragonair, quickly, Dragon Rage!"

OOC: To get rain you'd have to use rain dance.

Mira was stunned by the thunder wave and couldn't move. The Dragonair breathed a torrent of greasy blue flames at Mira and she couldn't evade, Elias took a step back at the sheer intensity of the attack. When they cleared the ground was scorched and Mira winced in pain. "Use synhesis!"

The leaf on her head started to glow as she did as he said, the additional sunlight increased its effects.

"Dragonair! Quick, you've got to stop her! Use Twister!" Shadow yelled. Dragonair created a vicsious tornado that he sent at Mira...

The twister washed over Mira but not before the yellow shield reappeared around her. "Light screen decreases the effects of special attacks!" Elias yelled at his opponent. Though Mira still took damage it wasn't nearly as much as it could have been. "Now use razor leaf!"

She started to swing her head but froze mid attack, the paralysis was still in effect. Elias gritted his teeth before thinking. "Use aromatherapy!"

A sweet scent filled the air and Mira took a deep breathe, she seemed to relax a bit before focusing on the Dragonair again. "Now use razor leaf again!"

"Dragonair use aqua tail!" The sharpened leaves were batted away like flies by the serpents water coated tail. "Now follow up with Dragon Rush!"

The dragonair surged forward with that same incredible speed, surrounded by a flaming vapor trail and tackled mercilessly into Mira. She was knocked back and to the ground by the dragons attack.

When it was apparent she wouldn't get back up Elias withdrew the Bayleef and replaced her with Ky. The Leafeon's red eyes bored into the dragon before him as he calmly took a sitting position and waited...

OCC: Lexie, how far up can I use the attacks on http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/148.shtml ? You had me using an lvl 39 move, so I was wondering how far I can use the attacks and stuff?

"Great job Dragonair." Shadow said. Calling to the other trainer, he added, "That Mira was something special, I must say. I'm mightily impressed."

The Leafeon waited calmly.

"Dragonair, Agility first, I think we're going to need it this time." Shadow said, thinking hard. Dragonair relaxed, lightening it's body. He would be much faster now....Shadow would be surprised if that Leafeon would be able to dodge any Slam or Wrap moves. "Be warned, you won't have much of a chance to use the weather to help you. My Dragonair is an expert with manipulating the weather, hence this cloudy day that's came in so fast after you used Sunny Day."

"Well you've done a good job of raising it, but the weather isn't all that important to me." Elias answered. The Dragonair would be a challenge now that its speed was boosted. "Ky, use energy ball!."

The Leafeon generated a ball of greeen energy adn held it in his mouth. "Now show them our little trick!" Leafeon obeyed by swallowing the attack. The result was a brilliant display of green light that emanated from the tips of his ears and tail like an aurora. "Lets see how you handle this!"

OCC: Very nice Lexie. I saw that too, but I forget what it could do and everything....

Shadow cocked his head, wondering what to do.

"Dragonair, be careful, alright? Try testing it with Dragon Rage, since that's a guaranteed hit usually." Shadow called out. The Dragonair breathed a torrent of greasy blue flames at the Leafeon. Shadow grinned, the heat and light of the flames giving him an odd glow. He loved the look. "Use Safeguard too, Dragonair!" Shadow added hastily. Dragonair was surrounded by a protective field. There...That'll at least take care of any status abilities that Leafeon might throw at us...At least for a while... Shadow thought.

"Use protect!" The dragons blue flames hit directly but only made Leafeon's green sheild ripple under the strain. "Now use energy ball!"

Shadow reacted on instinct alone.

"Dragonair! Dodge it quick!" Shadow yelled.
